2024-25 Edition Review
The 18th edition of the Hun Sen Cup concluded in spectacular fashion on May 25, 2025, with a final that will be remembered as a landmark moment for Phnom Penh Crown. Facing their arch-rivals and five-time champions Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng at a packed Morodok Techo National Stadium, the “Red Singha” finally shattered a 16-year “Cup Curse” with a hard-fought 2-1 victory. The atmosphere was electric, serving as a fitting farewell for Svay Rieng’s Spanish head coach, Pep Muñoz, in his final match leading the “Blue Swords”.
The path to the final saw the Kingdom’s “Big Four” assert their dominance during the National Stage. In the semi-finals, Svay Rieng overcame Boeung Ket, while Phnom Penh Crown edged past Visakha FC in a high-tension two-legged encounter. Boeung Ket eventually secured a third-place finish with a convincing 3-0 win over Visakha, led by the prolific Sieng Chanthea, who finished as the tournament’s joint top scorer with 6 goals—sharing the Golden Boot with Svay Rieng legend Prak Mony Udom.
